Farina: a Modern Italian Restaurant with a James Beard Award-Winning Chef
Farina is the newest James Beard Award-Winning Chef Michael Smith Restaurant, at the corner of 19th and Baltimore in Kansas City. Inspired by a dinner with his wife, Nancy Smith, at Guido, a one-star Michelin restaurant in Italy’s Piedmont region, they endeavor to bring that taste of a Italy to Kansas City. The goal is to provide a place for diners to make every evening memorable, strengthen bonds and laugh and share over extraordinary food and wine.
Farina is a casual yet elegant space, and the team hopes you will leave your cares at the door and let them spoil you. Enjoy grilled octopus and insalatas that are beyond compare, as well as Four Kings of Rome pastas and more.
The menu is seasonal, which whets the creative appetite. Chef Smith actually perfected his skills in Nice, France and others before coming to Kansas City’s much revered The American Restaurant in 1994. With the opening of Extra Virgin, in 2007, Farina is another step in Michael’s and Nancy’s continuing love affair with KC. Nancy makes sure everyone is happy as general manager, partner and wine director. Her wine list has won the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator since 2008. Visit, and let the Italian family ambience engulf your senses! Visit their site at farinakc.com or call 816-768-6600 for reservations.
