From Here to There … Sheri Berger Helps KC Entrepreneurs Move Forward
By Robin Atkins
Entrepreneurs dealing with stresses in their businesses and personal lives now have inside assistance. Sheri Berger, President of Here to There Consulting is a self-described Shawnee girl who, actually grew up in Alaska. Berger has lived in Shawnee for 32 years and enjoys the small-town feel of the Midwest, which has fueled her passion for small businesses.
Her experiences have given her a great foundation to help business owners find balance in their life. She saw a need in the community and started Here to There Consulting 11 years ago. The driving force that motivates her life and work is to make a difference through consulting that business owners can utilize to create positive energy both in their business and personal lives.
Berger works behind the scenes with business owners to help them succeed. Her consulting is based on her vast experience as a business analyst, which helps to strengthen businesses to:
· Retain and grow customers and internal clients
· Gain new customers
· Save money and cut costs
· Improve quality and enhance their reputations
Berger says that “my biggest paycheck is to watch people grow from here to there and go to the next level. I just love it when I see others become so successful in their life and business.”
Berger recently published “Here to There Revealed: A System for Balancing Life and Business.” Berger’s book allows the reader to determine their unique business vision and then transform their business and personal life.
“My book was written to inspire, empower and enable business owners to feel confident in balancing their personal and work life. I believe that anyone can have the life and business they love by doing the work that I have laid out.”
She says that she wrote the book because she has a huge heart for entrepreneurs and business owners and doesn’t like to see people in situations where the business owns them and they don’t own the business.
After many years as a business consultant, Berger says “I started realizing how businesses were affecting families and individuals in general. I have a huge passion for helping people to move forward.”
The chapters in the book include Focus on Your Mindset; You Must Have an MVP (Mission, Vision, And Purpose); Goal Setting; Your Surrounding Circle; Step-By-Step Money Mechanics; and Time Management.
Each chapter takes the reader a step closer to the best version of themselves, moving them from ‘Here to There,’ and helping them find a more balanced life. The end result for the reader is a crafted plan to move them from here to there, thereby creating the life and business desired, according to Berger. “To move forward and overcome obstacles, readers can utilize the insights provided to repeatedly revise, rework, and renew their perception of themselves.”
Berger’s inspiration comes from the most important people in her life … her four adult children, her husband (the love of her life for 28 years), and as a first-time grandma, her amazing 15-month-old grandson. She is also an avid supporter of her community and believes strongly that it’s the relationships in life that make the difference.
For her volunteering and small business support during the pandemic in 2021, she received the 2021 Kansas Women’s Business Advocate Award from Governor Laura Kelly and The Kansas Department of Commerce’s Office of Minority and Women Business Development. Berger has also been recognized by Toastmasters International for her involvement in mentoring, leading, and serving with Toastmasters’ highest award: the Distinguished Toastmaster.

When asked who has been the biggest influence in shaping her career philosophy?
“I had my second dad, Gerald Harris who I dedicated my book to. He was the first person who unconditionally loved me. He believed in me when everybody else told me I couldn’t. He would say, ‘what do you want to do?’ Although he passed away a year and a half ago, he still inspires me every day.”
She credits Harris for having been a huge impact in her life. “He’s the reason I do what I do today. He was my second dad. He poured so much love and compassion into me that it taught me to give back to others. And what if I can be that one person that believes in somebody else and makes them so much more successful? And so that’s why I do what I do.”
Berger acknowledges that there are tough times for every business owner, including herself. The pandemic tested many people both professionally and personally. When asked if she has ever felt like giving up:
“It is challenging to be an entrepreneur and to run your own business. But the thing that always keeps me going is when I see others and can say that I just made an impact in their life. That’s when I say oh my goodness, I don’t feel like I can ever give up. There are just too many people that rely on me to go out and make a difference and help them to move from here to there.
