Large Midwest Hospital Campuses Offer Notable Healthcare for Every Life Stage
The Olathe Health System includes Olathe Medical Center (OMC) – located at Olathe Medical Park, one of the largest hospital campuses in the Midwest – a nearly 250-acre campus at 151st Street and I-35 in southern Johnson County. The five-story acute-care medical center is licensed for 300 beds and averages more than 44,000 patient care days per year. Its emergency care center is one of the busiest in the region, with more than 42,000 patients treated annually.
The not-for-profit medical center and its network of practicing physicians specialize in nearly every area of medicine. OMC services include orthopedics, obstetrics, oncology, cardiology, vein care, emergency care and more. For more than 62 years, OMC has lived up to its promise – to meet the community’s need for compassionate, high-quality healthcare spanning every stage of life. From a single, 30-bed hospital in 1953 to a thriving regional health system today, OMC has grown with the community, responding to its needs.
OMC is currently undergoing the largest expansion in its history. Four significant construction projects are underway across OMC’s 250-acre campus: a new four-story obstetrics wing with a level II neonatal intensive care unit; a free-standing cancer center; an expanded cardiovascular center; and the addition of a memory care neighborhood at Cedar Lake Village.
Through OMC’s dedication to quality care, the hospital has received many awards and accreditations, including: Best Hospitals by US News and World Report; Women’s Choice Award, America’s Best Hospitals for Breast Center, Cancer Care and Orthopedics; Safest Hospital in the KC Metro Area by Consumer Reports; Newsweek Top Cancer Docs; Certified Chest Pain Center; Certified Primary Stroke Center; Accredited by the Commission on Cancer with commendation in the Community Hospital Cancer program category (only one in four hospitals nationwide receives this approval) and Accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
