Old-World Recipes are the Foundation for this Popular Italian Restaurant
Jasper’s opened in 1954 as a small neighborhood restaurant and bar. The restaurant quickly became a popular Kansas City dining spot. They evolved into one of America’s premier destinations for gourmet Italian food, as well as introducing authentic old-world Northern Italian dishes to Kansas City. This marked Jasper’s introduction to fine dining.
In its present-day location, Jasper’s Restaurant and Marco Polo’s Italian Market continue to bring diners back for more regularly. Chef Jasper Jr. learned the business from his family and attended at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, focusing on restaurant management. Jasper is as passionate as his predecessors often using old family recipes as the foundation for his menu items. All pasta and desserts, to include cannoli are made by Jasper. Patrons delight in watching Jasper make hand-made mozzarella cheese tableside. Jasper is constantly trying new recipes, testing them on family and friends first to introduce to the regular clientele. Heirloom tomatoes are also a specialty. Jasper purveys the finest local produce, delivering delectable dishes prepared with heirloom tomatoes when in season, which also pair nicely with the hand-made mozzarella.
Jasper and the restaurant have been recognized with numerous awards to include the TOP ITALIAN Restaurant in Kansas City by Zagat, their 26th DiRona Award for Dining Distinction, USA Today rated Jasper’s Restaurant in the Top 20 Italian Restaurants in North America, 2015 Travel & Leisure Magazine Top 25 Italian Restaurant in America, and recently Thrilllist.com recognized the menu as having one the 11 Most Iconic Dishes in America- Shrimp Livornese.
