Sales Training Entrepreneur Dan Stalp Loves KC and is Proud to do Business Here!
By Robin Atkins
Dan Stalp can be labeled as an energized entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, and community advocate. He is also a husband and father of four. Stalp is the owner of Sandler Training of Kansas City and is a nationally renowned sales trainer and sales leader. Stalp and his family are long-time residents of the Kansas City area. In fact, Stalp says his personal perspective on living in our city has contributed to his continued success!
Originally from a small town in Nebraska, Stalp appreciates the mid-western values he learned in his youth. He sees many of those small-town attributes and qualities in both the business and residential communities in Kansas City.
When asked what he likes most about Kansas City, Stalp didn’t hesitate for a moment. “I find people here are friendly, kind, and charitable, and they are loyal to each other and to local business owners, as well,” adds Stalp.
Stalp and his family enjoy the four seasons of the mid-west, exploring the many trails, and catching a Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, or a Monarchs game. They also attend many of the arts events and tour museums, especially the National WWI Museum and Memorial, and First Fridays in the Crossroads District.
As a seasoned business professional in our city, we believe Stalp has first-hand experience as to why people excel in their careers here. So, we asked him: “Why does Kansas City have such a lucrative business climate?”
“One example is an emphasis many organizations place on networking. At the events I’ve attended I have found that everyone knows someone and they are very comfortable making introductions.”
Stalp says there is overwhelming support for entrepreneurs here, too. “For example, programs like the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP), Pipeline, and the Kauffman Foundation’s Entrepreneur program support business owners and encourage them to pursue their ambitions.”
“Kansas City has a reputation as one of the foremost forward-thinking entrepreneurial cities in the nation.” Stalp has noticed an increased diversity of people relocating to our metro area. “This diversity is reflected in businesses ownership, leadership, and unique culture,” adds Stalp.
Stalp was inspired to become a business owner 29 years ago and has not looked back. His background first was co-owning an employee benefits firm from 1993-2005. He was introduced to Sandler in 1995. Through his personal investment in training and coaching, Stalp saw significant improvement in his sales abilities.
In 2005, he sold his portion of the benefits business and transitioned into a career with the Sandler Training franchise. Today, Stalp is the sole owner of Sander Training of Kansas City. He is often asked to be a guest speaker on panels, podcasts, and radio programs to discuss his insights on sales, sales management, and leadership.
Sandler Training of Kansas City is a professional development and training enterprise founded in 2005 and has now trained more than 4,000 individuals. “We are based in Overland Park, Kansas, and we are one of the top franchises of the Sandler Corporation worldwide,” according to Stalp.
While many people presume sales training is generally experienced at a ‘seminar’ or is event-based, the Sandler approach is quite different. Stalp and his team provide open access to nine 75-minute training sessions per month and unlimited coaching for their President’s Club members. “We help our clients master the proven Sandler methodology of selling by improving and maintaining supportive habits for themselves,” adds Stalp.
Stalp says, “Whether they are Fortune 500 companies, emerging enterprises, or individual sales professionals, we specialize in solving complex business challenges for them through our proven Sandler system for communicating, developing, and motivating people.”
Using state-of-the-art teleconferencing technology, Stalp’s firm provides training to clients who are based in metro Kansas City MO/KS. It is offered in-person and/or remotely throughout the United States and the world.
With a core team of four highly competent and personable people, Sandler Training of Kansas City continues to expand their service offerings including:
• Public training and mastermind every Tuesday and Friday.
• Private on-site sales professional development
• Organizational Excellence leadership curriculum
• Sales Leader Growth Series for sales leaders.
• Pre-hire assessments for prospective salespeople and sales leaders.
The Sandler team is led by Dan Stalp, who celebrated his 17th anniversary in 2022 at Sandler Training of Kansas City. “Our focus is on building long-term customer relationships. Each year we outperform and outmaneuver our competitors due to our tenacity, perseverance, and professionalism,” according to Stalp.
Stalp is an award-winning and highly esteemed sales trainer, sales consultant, business strategist, consultant, speaker, and author. He accepted the 2017 national Gold Stevie Award for Sales Training Leader of the Year in the Business Services category. In 2021, Sandler Training of Kansas City received the national Gold Stevie Award for Sales Training Practice of the Year.
