Founded in 1874 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Joseph Medical Center has a long tradition of providing quality, compassionate care. In 2015, the hospital was purchased by Prime Healthcare Services, operating 38 hospitals in 11 states. Its Catholic heritage and the spirit of our founding Sisters continue today in our mission of caring for the community.
Conveniently located at I-435 and State Line, St. Joseph of Carondelet is a faith-based, Joint Commission accredited, 310-bed acute care facility providing a wide range of services, including Emergency Department, Joint and Spine Institute, Surgical Services, Sleep Center, Birthing Center and outpatient services.
St. Joseph has proven it is among an elite group of providers in the treatment for time critical diagnosis and has earned the American College of Cardiology’s Get with the Guidelines Platinum Performance Award. The medical center has received full accreditation with percutaneous coronary intervention from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. It is also an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The medical center has earned Stroke Center Level II designation from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Bureau of Hospital Standards.
The Breast Center at St. Joseph has earned recognition by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology. In 2015, the medical center was recognized with the Women’s Choice Award® among America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics and America’s Best Breast Centers. The Women’s Choice Award identifies hospitals women can choose with confidence knowing they excel at clinical care and patient experience.
St. Joseph has attained Magnet® recognition for three straight times. This program recognizes excellence in nursing and it is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice.
