The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection: a Movement that is Changing Lives
The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection is an integral part of the greater Kansas City community, with locations in Leawood, Olathe, Downtown and Blue Springs. The church’s impact extends well beyond the walls of the church, as members give their time and resources to help meet the needs of their neighbors.
Resurrection is the largest United Methodist Church in the United States, with 22,000 members and 16 worship services each weekend, including online services at rezonline.org. It was founded in 1990 in Kansas City by Pastor Adam Hamilton. Pastor Hamilton had a vision to grow the church and leave a lasting mark on the community. The church offers hundreds of fellowship and personal growth classes each week. Pastor Hamilton is well known throughout the U.S. for his ministry and writings.
In 2017, the church opened a new sanctuary building in Leawood with architectural features and a stained-glass window gaining national attention. In May 2018, the church opened a new church building in downtown Kansas City. The church is committed to creating spaces for future generations to see how the Christian faith can change their lives and how they in turn can help transform the world.
